N° 3. Sep/Oct/Nov 2009
The third issue of Indaba-Magazine is focused on Human rights.
On December 10, 1948, after the second world war and its horrors, the General Assembly of United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today we can sometimes hear criticism and doubts towards the Human Rights; some people say that they belong to the Western culture and cannot be applied everywhere, but just read some articles of the Declaration and you will immediately understand that they are still valid because they correspond to situations of oppression and injustice that exist in today's world: the refugees in Middle-West or Africa, the street children, the child soldiers and the child sexual slaves, the citizens fighting for their rights in Iran or Myamar, the illegal immigrants chased by the police in Europe or USA, the indigenous people trying to keep their territories and their ways of life in many places of the world and even those who resist against mafias and street violence in our cities.
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."
Read again the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/). Do you think you can do something to protect and promote Human Rights. This is the question raised in this issue of Indaba-Magazine.
N° 2. July/August 2009
The second issue of Indaba-Magazine is focused on solidarity economy and fair trade. In this time of crisis, it is urgent to experiment new ways in order to put economy at the service of people. Some youth are committed in that direction... let us follow them.
N° 1. June 2009
